Tacos al pastor from where, exactly?
get some of chicago's best tacos al pastor at a non-Mexican restaurant
Hi, everyone!
I realize that Los Angeles seems like a million miles away from frigid Chicago, but I’m thinking of my friends out west today. The few people I know out there are safe for now, but many of their loved ones have lost everything.
My good friend
, who lives in the Chicago area, has organized a Los Angeles fire relief raffle focused around our favorite subject: food. Right now the grand prize is valued at over $900 (it was at $600 when she first started it), and there’s a shitload of stuff packed in, like a whole knife set, a bajillion signed books from James Beard Award winners, and a free year’s subscription to my other food newsletter, Food is Stupid.Single raffle tickets are a mere $1, so if you’d like to participate, the details are here. I’m a little late with this announcement as the giveaway expires on January 15th, so hop in now while you can.
This week’s Chicago food adventure takes us to a really interesting place in Little Village that specializes in pan-Asian cuisine like Chinese, Thai, and Japanese, but that’s not why we’re going. We’re heading there for not-so-secret Mexican food, specifically some incredible spit-roasted pork. Chicago food obsessives have known about this place for a while, but it definitely belongs in the roster on the newsletter, since it’s such a unique setup you have to see it to believe it.
