Seek enlightenment through Korean food
frankly, we could all use more vegetables in our diet anyway
Happy New Year, everyone!
I realize I’m like a week late with these wishes, but I was enjoying my much-needed time off. Hope your year is off to a running start. Let’s make 2024 a goddamn good one.
Before I dive into today’s newsletter content, I just wanted to point you to a fun article over at Bon Appétit. I say “fun” because it’s about, well, me. Freelance journalist Adam Reiner wrote a profile about me and my other newsletter, Food is Stupid (I’m a busy boy!), which is much different than this one. (It’s basically an anti-food newsletter.) Anyway, take a gander if you’ve got a minute, just because the whole experience has been such a delight, and you’ll get to know me a little better that way.
Although today’s visit to this vegan restaurant might seem suspiciously-timed to coincide with a possible “New Year, New You” sort of thing, I promise this is not going to turn into some weird wellness newsletter. Though trying to sell you dubious health supplements via a multi-level marketing company would be pretty funny. What a twist of a reveal for the newsletter that’d be.
The truth is, Davida had been asking for us to visit this Korean restaurant for a while, because she was intensely curious about its intersection of Korean and vegan food. Considering I had that stretch of time off, this was the perfect time to check it out.
And I’m grateful we did.
