Hello, everyone!
For a newsletter with a name based off a reference to Chicago-style pizza, I’ve sure neglected to cover the subject for a while. So today we’re munching on corner pieces (the best ones!) at a spot that mashes up Chicago’s signature thin crust pies with Balkan toppings.
Yep, you read that correctly. The city’s already got a few fusion spots that feature tavern-style pizza, like Polish-Italian combo Flo and Santo’s in the South Loop, and Filipino-inspired pizzeria and cafe combo Novel Pizza Cafe in Pilsen. (I haven’t been to either yet, but I hear wonderful things about each.)
What’s funny is I’d first been made aware of today’s place via targeted Facebook ads some months back, before my feed was filled the random unhinged trash I get now. Then a friend of ours mentioned that he’d enjoyed a unique pizza he’d gotten from this bar too. And now I’m starting to see people post more things about it on social media.
My instincts are telling me that the general public is starting to get interested in this pizza joint. So let’s take a peek at it before it gets too busy, shall we?
