Hello, everyone!
Before we dive into a bowl of hot soup today, just a little housekeeping—the newsletter will be off next week. It’s for a pretty good reason, too: Davida and I are finally getting married. We’re basically throwing a massive pizza party for our family and friends, which is fitting for all of the best reasons.
I figured we’d need some time to recover from all that fun (stress), so a brief break is in order. Thank you all for always being so supportive of us. You’re the best.
Now onto the fun stuff!
I have something to confess, and it’s that we don’t go out for Korean food very often. It’s funny saying that out loud, considering I’m Korean-American. But that’s because if we want Korean food, Davida and I can always just visit my parents out in the suburbs for some home cooking.

It’s not that Chicago doesn’t have Korean restaurants, it’s just that there’s not as many as there used to be. This makes me sad, of course, but it’s also the trajectory that my family took after they immigrated to Chicago. Once everyone in my extended family gained jobs, they all left the city for the less hectic environment of the suburbs.
But don’t worry, there’s still some Korean food left for all of us to enjoy, including this place.
